The qualifying tournament for the GG League, which took place on 11-12 April in the Olsztyn Urania Hall, has ended. Hawks returned from the capital of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship on the target, after a severe defeat in the final match.
In the grand final of the Olsztyn qualifying tournament we met with Winstrike Team. This team consists of players from the Commonwealth of Independent States, who in the past played at the largest Counter Strike: Global Offensive tournaments in the world, including FACEIT: Major London. Our players approached the match with this rival without any complexes, because they had previously met with them several times in online competitions, and also faced them during a group match in the GG League. It was a very balanced match, which ended with a 13:16 score on the Vertigo map, after which the Hawks felt a certain lack of satisfaction, because the victory was possible to win.
We reached the grand final by winning 2:0 with OFFSET Esports, a formation that came to the north of Poland from Portugal. In the second semi-final Winstrike dealt with the German Sprout. However, it was close, and they would not play in the final, because the match ended 2:1 after a very equal maps.
No wonder that the coach Mikołaj “minirox” Michałków kept calm before the fight. On the first map of Mirage, which was chosen by the representatives of the Russian organization, we started very well, taking the lead in the first rounds. However, after the change of sides, the Ukrainian Vlаdуslаv “bondik” Nеchуроrchuk and the company scored better, which allowed them to eventually win. The map ended with a score of 13:16.
On their land, that is Train, Hawks felt like on the proverbial hunt. Everything worked out for us, which allowed us to dominate Russian-speaking rivals and impose our style of play on them. The meeting ended with the result 16:10.
The winner was chosen by a duel on the map of Dust2, which started well for our players. They even managed to win the first half. However, after changing sides, they lost their momentum. Winstrike had no problem with using temporarily weaker disposition of our charges, which resulted in a loss of Damian “Furlan” Kislowski and the company 12:16.
Our players at GG League Olsztyn Offline Qualifier took second place. In the finals losing 1:2 to Winstrike Team. They returned to the slot richer by 5 000 PLN and a slot in the closed qualifying for the main tournament, so they still have a chance to perform in front of the audience at the ENEA Stadium in Poznan.
